The event was conducted under the auspices of the Popular Committee for Services of New Askar Camp and the Women’s Center, as part of the community awareness campaign led by the association. The workshop was moderated by Mr. Suleiman Basharat and attended by Ms. Shaheera Balbeisi, the project coordinator, Mr. Muhammad Abu Keshk, the head of the Popular Committee, representatives from active institutions in the camp, and a group of women activists.
The workshop addressed several key topics aimed at developing a vision and a plan to be discussed with other camps to raise a collective voice against the policies leading to the reduction of UNRWA services. Key areas of focus included:
The groups most affected,
The programs most impacted,
Actions and activities needed to confront this project,
Mechanisms ("tools") to achieve these actions,
And finally, the role of women in the camp in this context.
Participants engaged in discussions and provided inputs during the workshop. The plan will be further developed and coordinated with other camps to strengthen efforts against the reduction of services, ultimately addressing the termination of UNRWA’s operations.
