A delegation from the Canadian mission headed by Brigadier General Steve Graham, accompanied by a number of
consulate staff, visited the Lest We Forget Association in Jenin camp, where he met with a number of women leaders and activists, mothers of martyrs and prisoners, and a number of young people from Jenin camp.
At the beginning of the meeting, Farha Abu Al-Haijaa, the association’s president, spoke about the difficult conditions that Jenin camp is going through. She mentioned that what happened in Jenin camp in recent months had a great impact on children and women, noting that the continuous incursions and assassinations and targeting of young people constitute a great danger and reflect a difficult reality.
While the mother of the martyr Jamil Amouri spoke about the story of the assassination of her son, demanding the necessity of handing over his body, expressing her concern about the difficult conditions experienced by the people of the camp.
The mother of the martyr Muhammad Abu al-Haijaa also spoke about the conditions experienced by the mothers of the martyrs who lost their sons, stressing the need to support and support them, especially that in every house in Jenin camp there is a martyr, a prisoner or a wounded person, and this constitutes a real tragedy in the life of the Palestinian people.
The mothers of the prisoners also talked about the harassment and practices they are subjected to while visiting their sons in the occupation prisons, pointing out that there is a real violation of the privacy and humanity of women.
The youth also talked about the difficult reality and the complex conditions in which they live in Jenin camp, where the camp is constantly exposed to night raids, and that there is a clear targeting of young people, expressing their concern about these practices, the latest of which was the martyrdom of 4 young men.
While the head of the mission, Brigadier General Steve Graham, spoke of his pain and sympathy for what he heard of the painful and sad facts, stressing that he will give up everything in his effort to help recover the bodies of the martyrs. And the prisoners and the wounded, and that he will provide support to the Association Not to Forget, which provides psychological and social support to the people of Jenin camp.
